Creative Writing Assignment

An Alien Allergy

Once upon a time, in a galaxy – pretty close to here actually, there lived an alien named Gurgle.  He lived with many other normal aliens, and he was very normal too – except for one thing.  He was allergic to his own name.

He walked down the alien street, and said, “Hey Shmurgle!”.  Shmurgle replied, “Yah, how you doing Gurgle?” “Oh why did you sa-“  Gurgle never got to finish.  Gurgle’s allergic reaction started before he could even blink.  His left foot became humongous.  “Hey!” Gurgle said in a loud tone.  “Why did you do that?  You know I’m allergic to my name.”  Then Shmurgle replied, “Sorry!  I just forgot.  Now…how do we get your foot back to normal Gurgl- I mean dude?”  “Well, this wears off in a few hours – unless my name is said again…”

Next, he went to the Alien Super Market to grab some human carrots.  Human carrots were his favorite.  There was only one problem.  He couldn’t fit!  “Ahh my goodness!  I will never fit!” He shouted.  He tried to lug his foot into the store, but he just wouldn’t fit.  There was only one thing to do.  Wait until his foot went back to normal.  “This may be awhile.” He whined.

And it was a while.  But finally, his foot was back to normal.  “Yeah!  I can get in now!”  He said with a grin.  As he stepped in, shoppers and storekeepers alike both looked at Gurgle and said at the same time, “Hi Gurgle!”.  Then one shopper named Murgle said, “Oh dear, yo-“ .  But Murgle couldn’t finish.  Gurgle was ripped from the ground, his foot growing bigger every millisecond!  He soon could see the curve of the earth as he was far up in the sky.  “Ahhh!”  He screamed all the way.  He finally came to a stop.  “How will my foot ever get back to normal now?”

In the end, after weeks and weeks of shrinking, his foot was back to normal.  Gurgle thought of a plan to prevent this from happening again.  For now he would be called, Bugle, because it was different from all of the other “-urgle” names.  He was one of a kind, and he never had a foot problem again.  “Bye Bugle!”
